Whom Do We Serve?

Our constituents are children, especially young children, teachers, and care givers in Essex County, MA.  The children attend underserved schools where more than 50% of the population lives below the poverty level as defined by the Federal standards of free/reduced lunch.

Our constituents are also teachers to whom PIFGC offers training  through the annual Legacy Institute for Early Childhood Educators in March and various other teacher training programs.

Our constituents include high school students whom PIFGC  offers opportunities to perform service learning in the field of education. These students share unique experiences, perspectives and learning opportunities with younger children.

What do we offer?

PIFGC facilitates collaborations among schools, child care programs, after-school programs, volunteers, and anyone interested in helping local education.  By communities helping each other, everyone gains.

In addition, PIFGC holds the annual Legacy Institute for Early Childhood Educators in March and various workshops and classes for teachers throughout the year.

How do we pay for this?

Funding is provided by our annual Art and Honor of Teaching Fundraiser, registrations for the Legacy Institute, private grants, the Women's Fund, Developmental Teaching, and people like you.

How can you help?

You can HELP US HELP KIDS through attending and contributing to our fundraiser; helping and attending our Legacy of Teaching Institute; making a donation to help a Partner Schools Program; provide art materials, books or supplies to an underserved school or program; joining our committee of community building volunteers from all over Essex County.

PIFGC works to improve the quality of educational experience for young children and the quality of jobs and workplace for teachers in Essex County. We do this by supporting service partnerships with area high schools and elementary schools and community organizations serving young children. We also support teacher training and activities that help teachers and schools stay healthy and strong on behalf of children and their families.
